Eddy current testing of long products and semi finished products with the ELOTEST \ PL650 test instrument, ELO \ LINE software and rotors. When long products are inspected for circumferential and spot-like defects, they are usually guided through encircling differential test coils of the ULAD type.
The absolute coil also provided makes it possible to detect longitudinal defects such as slot welds in welded pipes or tubes. Segment coils of type LDA are usually used for weld seam testing. These can be customized for special geometries.
The sensors are selected according to the requirements to be met by the inspection. Differential sensors with distance compensation are used for many tasks. The usual effective width is between 1 and 15 mm. Together with a suitable rotation speed of the coils, a very high throughput can be achieved in continuous operation.

For the MRO sector, Rohmann GmbH has continuously developed the EloWheel testing system. The main advantages of the rim inspection system are the speed of the inspection, the sensitivity in finding defects, the resolution and reliability, and the flexibility in adapting to further requirements.

With the new EloWheel 800 RPT18, a surface crack inspection as well as an inspection for internal defects can be carried out simultaneously on aircraft wheels (up to a diameter of 800 mm) by using a double inspection probe. The user-friendly interface is integrated into the proven EloWheel evaluation software and provides the clarity to quickly and safely test for different types of rim halves.

The automated EloScan Eddy Current inspection system is mainly conceived for the inspection of rotationally symmetric engine parts. The system can also be used to inspect other complex component geometries owing to its universal structure. The precise sensor guidance makes it possible to inspect the part along its surface, even on points which are difficult to access, owing to the customized sensor fixtures.
In addition to the rotating and oscillating scanning of the component surface with a static sensor, bores can also be inspected with a rotating sensor system as part of the inspection process. The application of sensor arrays in multiplex mode has proven to be useful for this system.
