The KOWOSCAN X50 is a very effective and fast tool for digitizing X-ray films in digitization quality class DS using completely new technique. An Ultra HighRes 2D digital camera takes images of X-ray films which are placed on a highly uniform illuminated screen within seconds. Several smaller films can be placed on the large scanning area for simultaneous scanning. The easy to use KowoScan software recognizes the film size and separates multiple films to single images automatically to store in DICONDE or TIF format.
Features and advantages:
– very high throughput for fast digitization of high amount of films
– several smaller films within one scan, automatic film size recognition
– very low maintenance efforts, no movable parts
– Region Of Interest (ROI) function for perfect film region
– measurement of optical density with a “mouse pointer”
– magnification and window leveling with the mouse
– magnification, mirroring, rotating, display 1:1 and full screen function
– automatic calibration in density and geometry (with test chart)
– DICONDE tag editor with automatic functions
– easy linking to any evaluation software

The KOWORASE X is a highly efficient tool for external erasing of CR imaging plates (IP).
Due to the 2-phase cleaning process even highly stressed imaging plates can be recovered to performance levels requested in ASTM E2445 for both tests – Erasure and Burn-In (≤ 2% PV or nonvisible).
Even so-called Ghost Images or Burn-Ins can be erased satisfactory – Ghost Images or Burn-Ins are artefacts which are nonvisible after erasure but become visible on image of following exposure.
In phase 1 the imaging plate is exposed to complete saturation (ca. 65,000 grey values) with UV-light while in phase 2 imaging plate is erased with LED-light to ca. 90 grey values.
Total time for an erase process is between 3 and 6 minutes dependent on condition (number of exposures), intensity of burn-in and age of imaging plate.
Use of KOWORASE X:
Opening drawer, inserting imaging plates on drawer, closing drawer, starting cleaning process, removing imaging plates when process is finished, Imaging plates are ready for new excellent X-ray exposures.

The digital version KOWOSPOT X consists of the analogue version KOWOSPOT plus a CMOS detector (DDA) and the com-plete easy to use software package KowoSpot.
Benefits:
– Measurement (ASTM E1165-20 or EN12543-2) within a few seconds
– Supports ILP method (according to actual standards) and 10% threshold method (according to old standard)
– Complete solution supplied – only PC with MS WINDOWS® is required
– Storing images (.tif) and results (.cvs) repeated measurements stored in same cvs file focal spot evaluation over live time of X-Ray tube – CMOS detector design for about 6000 focal spot measurements; DDA can be replaced easily
– DDA with 20 μm pixel size and special scintillator offer high resolution and efficiency
– Software with auto exposure function and easy to use evaluation (no expert required) – Modular concept
– fits for focal spot sizes from 100 μm up to >4mm (FS 0 to FS 17) Smaller focal spot sizes to 50 μm (FS 20) can be measured with restrictions in precision due to pin hole size
– Different adapters for most of available X-Ray tubes (special adaption upon request)
Features and Benefits
– automatic detector (DDA) calibration when plugged in
– automatic evaluation of exposure time (1 s ..16 s)
– image integration for high SNR possible
– automatic calculation of system pixel size
– free style tube descriptor and Serial Number

CR Phantom enables to test all relevant parameters of CR Scanner systems and Imaging Plates (IP) like Basic Spatial Resolution, MTF, Contrast Sensitivity, Blooming, Laser Jitter, Scanner Slippage, Shading, Erasure and more. These tests required and described in detail in standards ASTM E2445 and ISO 16371-1 have to be performed periodically for checking process control and long-term-stability.
The KOWOTEST CR Phantoms exceed these standards by including two Duplex Wire Type IQIs and measuring points for Shading in both axes – portrait and landscape. All required information is mapped on the Imaging Plate with a single X-ray exposure. Phantom must not be rotated to generate information of second axis. This results in higher accuracy and significant time savings.
CR Phantom 6×10 is designed for use of smaller Imaging Plates. Even IPs in weld formats down to 10×24 cm can be used to perform all essential tests.
For Linearity check in landscape direction additional tungsten balls in a graduation of 25 mm are available. The Duplex Wire Type IQIs can be removed to use for other applications.

The Type 2 Duplex Plate Phantom enables to test relevant parameters of DDA systems like Basic Spatial Resolution, Contrast Sensitivity, SNR and Signal Level for initial performance evaluation and long-term stability. These test required and described in detail in ASTM E2737 have to be performed periodically for checking process control and lang-term stability.

For precise determination of optical densities of X-ray films the KOWODENS TD is equipped with innovative digital measuring technique. The KOWODENS TDi, in addition to the illuminated area around the measuring spot, has a completely illuminated table.
The illuminated display enables easy readings even in darkened rooms and calibration of the instrument, done with the software, is sim-ple and much more accurate than on conventional densitometers.
There are two ways of operating the measuring sensor – either by pressing it down onto the film or the sensor is laying on the film with slight pressure and is lifted before moving the film to next measuring spot.
Due to the soft tip sensor and rounded edges of the light table even large format films can be measured without scratching these.
